MATTIA PASINI TAKES ON HOME ROUND THIS WEEKEND
The PETRONAS Sprinta Racing rider will compete at Mugello, Italy, his favorite circuit and a place where he has won three times.
Mattia Pasini will compete in a second Grand Prix weekend as a substitute Moto2 rider for PETRONAS Sprinta Racing, at his home round at Mugello – where he has won more times than at any other track in his career.
After an unfortunate end to the race at Le Mans, he arrives at the Italian GP off the back of two positive days of testing at the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit, where he was able to continue riding with the same great pace he had shown during the French GP weekend. Pasini has been victorious at Mugello on three occasions in three different classes: In 125cc in 2006, 250cc in 2009 and Moto2 in 2017. He started last year’s Moto2 race from pole position.
The team’s regular rider Khairul Idham Pawi continues to recover favorably from an injury to his right hand. The Malaysian rider will spend a few days in his homeland before returning to Europe for his comeback.
The 21-lap Moto2 race will take place on Sunday, June 2nd at 12:20pm local time.
