Aprilia also dropped the bomb at EICMA 2018 with a new never been seen before model called the RS 660. This comes as a surprise as Aprilia never had a mid range Sportbike till now. This may be just a concept for EiCMA but its inspired by its racing legacy! Which it does have winglets and gills all over the fairing and much carbon parts.
RS 660 engine is born around the concept the Aprilia engineers are already working on a parallel twin-cylinder of 660 cc, a very new and compact new generation unit derived from the 1100cc V4 that equips the ‘T‘uono V4 and RSV4 1100 Factory. The configuration was chosen, for its compactness and efficiency, for the very low heat transmission to the pilot and for the freedom that leaves the designers to create a slim and light chassis. Clearly, the RS 660 project is the basis for the development of a wider range of Aprilia models that brings Aprilia to be a leader in an extremely strategic market segment in Europe but also in Asia and the American market. For now, it’s early to talk about it but it’s not a fantasy!

With the RS 660 Concept, Aprilia is looking for a new concept of sportiness, defined by the relationship between an exuberant but easily manageable engine performance, a chassis of absolute excellence and the lightness of the vehicle.
RS 660 Concept is a possible answer to the demand of the new generations of fun motorcycles, able to give back emotions on the road as well as occasional outings on the circuit.
RS 660 Concept interprets the concept of sportiness according to extremely modern standards, the result of a deep technological research and the extremes of aerodynamic solutions not bound by any regulatory limit.
The result is a unique proposal: a two-cylinder medium-sized, attractive, accessible, which wants to offer very high technological content, even higher compared to bikes of higher category.
RS 660 is, therefore, a possible proposal for young motorcyclists growing from lower displacements, looking for a high-level sports bike, capable of giving emotions and daily fun on the road and ready to support the rider on the track.
The design: aerodynamic avant-garde
Aprilia RS 660 Concept stands out above all in its innovative and sophisticated style, which also derives from a series of aerodynamic studies. With a trend born in racing at the highest level, aerodynamics is now in great development in the motorbike field, RS 660 Concept can thus explore concepts such as aerodynamic load control.
From the work in the wind tunnel and from the solutions that followed, the shape of a motorcycle is born, in which the forms are an absolute and direct consequence of the functions. The variable front section, the flow of air flows, the variable downforce values have become opportunities for the Centro Stile which has created very modern dynamic forms.
The concept offers a comfortable driving position, thanks to the large-sized saddle located on the elusive tail, with not too much raised platforms and a pair of half-handlebars mounted above the upper steering plate. The result is a triangulation of the saddle-handlebars-sports but comfortable footboards, to the benefit of driving pleasure and comfort.

ability to package super-fine bikes is globally recognized. In keeping with this tradition, RS 660 Concept offers a magnificent structure consisting of an aluminum frame and swingarm.
In the concept the chassis exploits the engine as a stressed element, helping to form a compact and rigid structure. The right arm of the swingarm has a curved shape to allow the passage of the exhaust terminal. The special assembly of the shock absorber allows to obtain an excellent progression without using the linkage, saving weight and gaining overall cleanliness.
