I was a fool to think that a RM3-4k Velocifero electric scooter call Mad 1600 which is the top of the range electric scooter is sold at RM1k for two units and one unit at RM600. These scammers use the pretext of only 5 sets of Velocifero, and this sounds too good to be true. And “YES” its too good to be true! You been scammed. Mid last year I saw on Facebook this promotion, the page looks decent with over 20k likes, pm the page and there was response, but still i didn’t make any purchase. Then recently a friend told me the promotion came up again, contacted the seller and was told left 1 set still available and I should make payment by 7.30pm. As i made the booking and giving my delivery address, the seller replied the 2 units will arrive on Thursday, On Wednesday I message him again, to confirm the delivery, he said Thursday. Then Thursday came i message him to ask for the logistic contact number, no reply, I went to the Page and notice got many likes but not a single comment in all the posting pf the promotion. Then when i message him again, sure enough he had blocked me. After i did some searching on-line found out that many of this Facebook page have similar modus operandi. Modern-day internet-based scammers use fear, false urgency, curiosity, and other tactics to help them in their quest to steal your money and worst is your information. Our loss was just a grand but that serves a lesson learned, to cross check and verify what you buy is from a trusted seller and not to get excited on a “Too Good To Be True Scams”! Just be mindful and hope to stop these scammers getting to more victims.
Not only Bikes & Scooters which was attracted people from a special discount (80-90% off). I found out on the REAL brand owner website that the company has never been offering such huge discount and unreasonable discounts for these products. Please be aware of all special discounts online and especially on Facebook and share to your friends and relatives.
I was unlucky as i was conned out of urgency and transferred it from my account. If using credit card would be better as the bank can cancel that transaction. Don’t pay anything online with cash and without company name.
-If already paid, check the transaction from your bank account TO THE DESTINATION ACCOUNT if it’s a personal (chinese) account, so this is a scam account.
-Don’t be attracted by “Too cheap online deal”
-Contact your bank immediately to discuss the case and find out the details of the account.
-Take a screenshot of the scam business and post on facebook.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
