The title chase in the 2017 FIM Asia Road Racing Championship goes down to the wire. The 4.5km Chang International Circuit, host to the season finale, will be the battleground on which the final champions will be determined.
Musashi Boon Siew Honda Racing Team Mohd Zaqhwan Zaidi is leading the pack with 138 points, just 4 points lead from Yamaha Racing Yuki Ito, the 22-year-old rides into Round 6 of the 2017 FIM Asia Road Racing Championship.
Zaqhwan, who is also the defending champion of the class, did not look particularly strong at the start of the season. Instead, it was Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman who became the hot favourite for the title. But Azlan crashed and injured himself twice during the season and subsequently, was unable to sustain his winning momentum beyond Round 2.
Meanwhile, Zaqhwan’s performance peaked with two wins and five podium finishes.
